Repair and Reuse
Hansen & Gretel don’t just offer product. One of our most important values is to create pieces that are ‘forever’, which is why we offer repairs at all of our stores and across our Wholesale channels. It’s part of our responsibility to ensure our product can be enjoyed for as long as possible. Our factories replace or repair garments wherever possible – be that new zippers, buttons or entire fabric panels. If a garment is irreparable, we offer the pieces to the local Fashion colleges, who can often make use of the fabric / trims. In this way, we aim to be as circular as possible.
We are passionate about limiting our use of single use plastics in the entire production cycle. We began using biodegradable plastic in 2018 and our online orders are packaged using only 100% recycled and biodegradable materials. We were one of the first Australian brands to implement the use of biodegradable plastic for all of our stock. This material breaks down within 365 days of being disposed of in regular landfill, unlike regular plastic that can take thousands of years to degrade. Recycled packaging is used for all online orders and in our boutiques, including internal store transfers. We enforce limited plastic use amongst all of our factories and implement paperless post with our courier services.
